A representative of the Afghanistan Cricket Board said that Fazalhaq Farooqi was taken to the hospital for MRI scans in order to diagnose his calf muscle problems. In the first game against Bangladesh, Farooqi was unable to finish his bowling because he was asked to leave after nine overs. As Bangladesh could only manage 169-9 in their allotted 43 overs, Farooqi, who was named Player of the Match, was the main destroyer with 3-24, and they lost by 17 runs using the D/L method. He picked 3-22 in the second game, but according to ACB officials, they sent him for an MRI on Monday to get a second opinion from the medical staff on his calf muscle problems.
He added that they hoped he will play tomorrow (July 11) in the third ODI against Bangladesh. “He faced some problems the day before yesterday (in the opening game) and as he was finding some problems we sent him to the hospital (today),” he said.
On Monday at the practice at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Farooqi bowled with perfect rhythm. Later that evening, he was observed leaving the team hotel for his scan.
