Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard will be a part of the England men’s coaching staff for the West Indies and USA 2024 T20 World Cup. According to a media statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Pollard will serve as the assistant coach.
“Kieron Pollard, a former captain of the West Indies, has been named to the England men’s coaching staff for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies next year. According to an ECB release, Pollard will join the England Men’s team, especially for the T20 World Cup to aid the coach and offer local knowledge.
As the batting coach for the Mumbai Indians, Pollard announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League and international cricket last year. He played for the West Indies team that won the World Cup in 2012.
For just the second time, the ninth iteration of the T20 World Cup will take place in the West Indies in 2024. Played from June 4 to June 30, the competition will feature up to 20 teams.
The current winner, England, earned the title in the 2022 tournament held in Australia after defeating Pakistan. In the third T20 World Cup (2010), which was played in the West Indies, England also won their first title.
