LSG and MI clash to hurt each other’s playoff chances

The Lucknow Super Giants’ ‘Adab Se Harayenge’ campaign is showing some signs of being marginally ineffective in the face of more than a month of winless home runs, and may even be pushing their nawabi warmth a little too far for their own comfort. And they face a rogue Mumbai Indians team as they are ready to boost their campaign during its most crucial stage.

For the tourists, a lot appears to be out of place on the surface.

Due to their respective ailments, Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer are no longer expected to play. And in terms of the team MI has put together, there is no close equivalent for them in the world of cricket.

For several seasons running, Rohit Sharma has had trouble finding his form.

Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs, two explosive South African batsmen who were developed last season for the rigors of the IPL, are simply not given enough opportunity to shine.

Their discovery from the previous season, Tilak Verma, is still unknown. For several seasons running, Rohit Sharma has had trouble finding his form. The Mumbai Indians are still in with a possibility of placing in the top two despite having a sluggish start to the season.

The current stage is difficult for both sides, and Piyush Chawla has already cautioned Mumbai Indians not to cross the thin line separating confidence and overconfidence as a result of their timely momentum.

The batting strength of MI, which has scored huge runs and chased down 200+ scores too easily for the comfort of the other teams, has been a major factor in the team’s recent success. The difficulties would be different in Lucknow.

They would have to modify their strategy from the flat and quick tracks to the sluggish turners. They struggled lately in Chennai, and things will only get more difficult on LSG’s home pitch, which has produced the fewest goals this year by a wide margin.

If past performance is any indication, they are yet to defeat LSG in the IPL. However, the visitors can still win two points. KL Rahul had hit a century in both of their most recent losses. He won’t be available right now. Second, despite the abundance of spin alternatives and skilled spinners, LSG themselves haven’t developed a strategy for long-term success at the site and in the competition.

What time: May 16, 2023, 7:30 IST

Where: BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, match between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians

What to expect: The last full game played at the site was two weeks ago. Even if the temperature has significantly increased since then, the situation for the batters is not likely to improve. While concerns about the pitch’s quality persist, clubs would aim to bat first. Although spinners have received a lot of attention, pacers have been just as productive, picking up wickets more frequently than spinners and striking almost as frequently at nearly the same average. The Pacers give up 1 run per over more on average.

LSG defeated MI 2 to 0. Even though LSG defeated MI twice last season, both triumphs were aided by hundreds from KL Rahul, who won’t play against MI on Tuesday.
