SA20: Teams to play against Namibia and the Dutch to warm up

For the next week, several elite South African players who chose SA20 over international cricket in New Zealand will continue to play for international teams. They will play games against foreign teams before the start of the second season league on January 10. The Joburg Super Kings are scheduled to play some games against Namibia. The team includes international players like Gerald Coetzee, Reeza Hendricks, and Nandre Burger.

The Super Kings are hosting two exhibition games against the Namibian national team on January 5 and 7. These games, which will take place at the Wanderers, are logically a part of the build-up to the SA20’s second season. The Super Kings have invited the Namibian squad, who qualified for the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies and the US this June, to provide their players with important game time. Notably, the Joburg Super Kings signed Namibian international David Wiese, who would represent the team rather than his own country.

“We have a great chance to play practice matches against such elite competition. We are well-prepared for the T20 World Cup, for which we have earned a spot. We can’t wait to get started on it. These games will help certain players become more well-known. We are particularly happy for our Under 19 team, which qualified for the Under 19 World Cup in South Africa “said Rudi van Vuuren, head of Namibia cricket.

In a similar vein, the Netherlands team has been invited to practice by SunRisers Eastern Cape, which features players like Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, and Marco Jansen, among others. In actuality, the Scott Edwards-led squad will also play against two other teams. They won praise for their performance during the 50-over World Cup in India last year. According to a Netherlands Cricket spokeswoman, they will play SunRisers on January 4 and 6 (the match today may be postponed due to rain); Paarl Royals on January 7 and 9; and MI Cape Town on January 18.

The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) organizers have long discussed the concept of playing against associate teams, but they could not pull it together. The Association teams are now interacting with the SA20 franchises.
