Prioritising T20 cricket for the national team, the Pakistan Cricket Board has scheduled additional T20 matches in the West Indies and the United States before the event. The West Indies series has been postponed as a result of Pakistan now having additional T20Is at home against New Zealand.
As part of the new WTC cycle, West Indies was previously planned to tour Pakistan in February of the following year and play two Test matches. But that has now been postponed until January 2025. After their tour of Australia later this year, Pakistan will now head to New Zealand and play five T20 Internationals commencing January 12. In the months leading up to the T20 World Cup, New Zealand will then visit Pakistan again in April 2024 to play five more Twenty20 Internationals.
PCB has now officially announced that Pakistan will play a total of 19 T20 Internationals prior to the World Cup. The Asian team will play three matches against the Netherlands, two matches against Ireland, and four matches against reigning champions England in addition to the 10 games versus New Zealand. Due to these modifications, Pakistan’s initial visit to New Zealand, which included three ODIs and five T20Is, has been postponed until April 2025.
