SLC plans to rope in Bharat Arun and Jonty Rhodes

To provide advanced training for local coaches, trainers, and physiotherapists to enhance their skills and competencies by conducting periodic training programs in specific areas, Sri Lanka Cricket is seeking the services of Jonty Rhodes, Bharat Arun, and former national physiotherapist Alex Kountouri, the board stated in a release on Thursday.

The announcement was announced during an SLC Executive Committee meeting when it was also decided to introduce an award to reward and compensate young cricket players who excel in Sri Lankan school cricket competitions. Cricketers competing at the Under-15 and Under-17 levels will receive the prize.

The board is also thinking of launching an Under-21 program, specifically for children who don’t have access to cricket after school. We will communicate with all pertinent parties to make sure the program gets underway as soon as possible.

The National Super League players’ salaries will also be increased, as decided by the board. Commencing in 2024, retiring referees, scorers, and umpires will also receive awards.
