Due to recreational drug use, ZC suspends Madhevere and Mavuta

Wesley Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta, both international cricket players, have been suspended by Zimbabwe Cricket immediately for allegedly breaking anti-doping regulations. Up to a hearing, the two players will not be involved in any cricket-related activity.

Under the ZC Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials, Madhevere and Mavuta have both been charged. “Both tested positive for a banned recreational drug in an out-of-competition case recorded during a recent in-house doping test,” ZC stated in a statement.

Mavuta has participated in 26 Zimbabwean games in all formats; his most recent game was on Sunday, December 17, against Ireland. Despite having played in nearly 100 matches for his nation, Madhevere was left off of the team for the recently finished ODI series against Ireland.
