The dates for Afghanistan’s all-formats away trip to Sri Lanka in February were released by the Afghanistan Cricket Board on Sunday. Afghanistan will play three ODIs and three T20Is after a single Test match. After that, they’ll go to the United Arab Emirates to host Ireland for a complete series consisting of one Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
From February 2 to 6, the one-time Test will take place at the SSC in Colombo. The three ODIs on February 9, 11, and 14 will take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. After that, the sides will go to Dambulla to play three Twenty20 Internationals on February 17, 19, and 21.
The Test match against Ireland will take place in Abu Dhabi from February 28 to March 3 and will kick off the series. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host both the ODIs and the T20Is. The ODI matches are scheduled for March 7, 9, and 12, and the T20Is are scheduled for March 15, 17, and 18.
The three ODIs were added to the original itinerary of the Sri Lankan tour, which only comprised the Test and three T20Is. This was made possible by discussions the ACB had with the SLC. “Adding these three ODIs is a big step towards ensuring a thorough and all-encompassing tour that will not only give Afghanistan cricket a lot of exposure but also strengthen ties between the two countries.” AfghanAtalan can readily take on the challenge of playing Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, which is always difficult, according to ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf.
“2024 is a very busy and full of highly voltage competitions for the Afghanistan National Team, which is a very good and positive sign for Afghanistan Cricket,” ACB CEO Naseem Khan continued. We will be able to better prepare the team for the crucial T20 World Cup with the support of the impending visits to India and Sri Lanka, followed by the home series against Ireland. eagerly anticipating the several series up front.”
